Internet Rant
So I was just thinking about the internet and the fact that it has dumbed some people down or society as a whole. I mean the simple fact that people don't care about how the type/"write" is enough to say that we're loosing some smarts. Some people I talk to don't understand how it can get on my nerves to have someone type "ppl" "grp" "GURL" and the such and yet these same people know that I was an English major...it's like HELLO!!! More times then not i've found myself correcting people on their usages of "there" "they're" and "their". Does the society need to go back and have a grammer lesson? Can people tell the difference between the different usages anymore?
But anyway, I have seen students turn in papers with the usage of "w/o" and "b/c" in them. Are we too lazy to write an intellectual paper without haveing to abbreviate words that aren't even that long to begin with? Come on people!
Not to mention the fact that people can just go online and download term papers and the such and actually use them in class without realizing that professors can easily type in a phrase and find out if the paper or part of the paper was plagerized....and yes this has happened at RMU.
Has the internet made it easier for people to be lazy and not fully type out words ( i mean common how hard is it to press a few extra keys?) or make it easy for use to not an intellectual thought in us? I mean granted sometimes I do type w/o, b/c and the such, but that's cause I'm in a hurry and on a deadline with my own work (I'm attempting to write a couple essays in hopes of getting them published and become a literary critic how awesome would that be?) but anyway I am rambleing and probably not making any sense. So off I go....
